Shì 是 - to be

Unlike English, Shì is used to connect two nouns together rather than with adjectives.
It can also mean different things depending on the context, these are:

• yes
• to be

Singular

There are three pronouns in Chinese, wŏ, nǐ and tā. All gender versions are pronounced as tā however the Chinese characters are different.

Plur

“Country” in Chinese

The word for country in chinese is:

• 国家 (guójiā)

It literally translates as "country" 国 (guó), "home" 家 (jiā).

Another word used for country is:

• 国(guó)

However this is mainly used with other country related vocabulary. Whereas guójiā can be used on its own...
